Protecting Our Country.
We Take It Personally.
SAIC's national security efforts reach across all branches of the military and support the full spectrum of military operations — from peace keeping and humanitarian missions to major conflicts.
Scott
Growing up in an Air Force family, Scott was fascinated with how things worked. He demonstrated his engineering skills when he was 10 years old by disassembling and repairing his parents' phonograph. This fascination continued throughout his youth.
Dutch
Dutch's 20-year U.S. Marine Corps career infused his desire to continue contributing to the defense of our country after he left the service. "After retiring from the Marines, I knew I could put my leadership skills and my experience in training younger Marines to good use in the modeling and simulation industry," said Dutch.
Tom
While in high school, Tom took a computer programming class on a whim. "We took a computer aptitude test and, much to my surprise, I scored higher than anyone else in the class," he said. Tom entered college as a pre-med major. "It took a couple of years, but I finally accepted the fact that I'm a techie at heart and transferred from pre-med to engineering. The rest, as they say, is history."

Gary
As both a career U.S Air Force non-commissioned officer and a long-time sworn law officer in Calhoun and Cleburne Countries, Ala., Gary knows what he is doing. He retired twice, but still wanted to share his knowledge with other first responders. "Even being retired, I felt that I could still give something back, especially after the 9/11 terrorist attacks," said Gary.
Jimmy
Jimmy knew he wanted to be a law officer since he was 16 years old when he received his driver's license and a police scanner. "I would follow the police cars at a distance, watching, listening and wondering how I would handle the call if I was in that situation," said Jimmy.
Mellione
Mellione began her career in the U.S. Army, serving as the Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) non-commissioned officer for the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 8th Infantry Division. As part of her responsibilities, she trained company personnel in NBC defensive tactics, such as how to properly use protective gear, how to perform self-decontamination and how to correctly maintain equipment.
Shirley
After 20 years of service in the U.S. Army, Shirley retired and applied for a position as an administrative assistant with SAIC's EAI Corporation. As a result of her extensive military experience as a drill instructor, medic, first aid instructor and operations and intelligence specialist, Shirley was offered a job as an instructor instead.
Richard
Richard was a chief deputy sheriff in Cleburne County, Alabama when he received a call from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on September 11, 2001. That's when he realized that terrorist attacks could happen anywhere, even in a small Alabama county. "The bottom line is that there are targets everywhere. Knowing where those targets are and how to respond in a safe manner is the first step in self-preservation," said Richard.

Beth
Beth grew up in a construction family where building things and tearing them down was a regular part of her life. So it's not surprising that she chose engineering as a profession. "Electrical engineering appealed to me because of the intricate nature of the design work," Beth said. "I eventually moved into systems engineering because I love to look at the big picture of a project, yet understand every aspect of the design."
Detric
Detric has always had a passion for electronics. After graduating from ITT Technical Institute, the native South Carolinian decided to apply this passion to communications systems and military applications with SAIC's AMTI facility in Charleston, S.C. “It was my way of giving back to our country by using my electronics expertise to help support our armed forces,” Detric said.
Michael
Michael has always loved to experiment and build. "My passion for building things comes from my dad who was in the farm equipment business designing tractors, combines and other agricultural equipment," he said. "As a child, I spent weekends building electronics for fun, designing and modifying radios, antennas and stereo receivers just to see how they worked. I also competed in science fairs at school and can't remember how many times I took my bicycle apart and put it back together again."
Jeff
On August 29, 2005, the lives of Jeff and his young family were turned upside down when Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Louisiana coast. A New Orleans native, Jeff worked at the local Naval Oceanographic office. Jeff's home sustained considerable damage in the storm, and the family was forced to move.
