Concern over environmental issues increased as energy development and utilization of new fuels came into focus during Fiscal Year 1973. The increased interest in these business areas helped to sharpen the focus of SAI’s efforts.

As a result, the collection of SAIs related work was consolidated and divided into two separate operating groups: the Applied Sciences and Technology Group, which began with work related to nuclear power, and the Energy and Environmental Group.
JRB Associates, Inc., became firmly established in the health business with the award of two multi-million-dollar health research planning support contracts one contract was for a heart disease research plan and the other for a cancer research plan
- Within its first five years, a company organized for high technology problem-solving had become a major research and development organization with broad capabilities in technical, experimental, product and service areas, reaching $10 million in annual revenues
