In Fiscal Year 1978, SAI staff continued to play a major role in national security programs. The company worked on systems and technology advancements in strategic forces, space systems, defense systems, and tactical forces for NATO.

SAI won two major computer-based systems integration jobs: one for Remington Arms and the other for the Hughes Helicopter Corporation.
During Fiscal Year 1978, a subsidiary company, JRB Architects, Inc., was created to offer planning, design, financial, construction, and operational management of health-related facilities and laboratories
- SAI served as the prime contractor for the Bureau of Land Management’s South Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf Physical Oceanography Program
