During Fiscal Year 1979, SAI’s solar energy program became recognized as a leader in the application of solar technologies.
Fiscal Year 1979
Based on a developing capability as a systems engineering firm, SAI won contracts for the design of the ocean thermal energy conversion system cold water pipe and the design of a 350-KWp photovoltaic system to be installed at the Oklahoma Center for Science and Art. In addition, SAI initiated a major support contract with DoE to carry out component modeling, model validation, and system modeling for solar heating and cooling systems.
Energy and environmental activities were divided into separate entities – the Energy Technology and Engineering Group and the Environmental Science and Technology Group
At the close of the fiscal year, almost 40 percent of all Science Applications, Inc. employees were stockholders
- Shareholders had increased by more than 50 percent to 1,360.
