Growth of the Company: FY 1984

SAIC completed its fifteenth year by expanding its technical capability, further strengthening management, and posting another record year in revenues, earnings, and stock price.


Fiscal Year 1984

SAIC’s independent research and development program continued to provide regular opportunities for cooperative action. SAIC invested $1.3 million of its own funds to support areas of strategic importance to the company, as well as funding projects of special interest to its customers.

  • SAIC became involved in the technical design of the winning challenger for the America’s Cup, held in Perth, Australia

  • SAIC continued using the services of an outside independent appraisal firm to review its pricing formula and render a quarterly opinion regarding the fair market value of its stock

  • SAIC successfully completed the development phase of its largest program – the design, development and integration of a multi-million dollar C3 system for a foreign navy

  • SAIC acquired Carl T. Jones Associates, an engineering service organization with extensive experience in communication and electronics

  • The company provided technical and management support services to the Nevada Nuclear Waste Storage Investigations Project, and began developing a conceptual design for a geologic nuclear waste repository
