From outer space to the ocean floor, SAIC's technology and services were applied to complex technical problems. For space applications, SAIC developed computer codes, new types of shielding, and advanced designs to improve the reliability and efficiency of space vehicles.
Fiscal Year 1985
Under the sea, SAIC's physical oceanographic services and instrumentation were used for whale population exploration and environmental monitoring. On the ground, SAIC's nuclear instrumentation, such as the Post-Accident Sampling System, monitored conditions at nuclear power plants across the country.
Fiscal Year 1985 was guided by five main objectives:

For Fiscal Year 1986, SAIC added another objective: increasing its emphasis on the recruitment, retention, and motivation of talented people.
