In Fiscal Year 1987, SAIC added dozens of experienced technical leaders to its staff, as well as 1,000 new employees. The research base of almost 2,500 on-going contracts grew significantly in many areas of long-term national priority.

In Fiscal Year 1987, SAIC added dozens of experienced technical leaders to its staff, as well as 1,000 new employees. The research base of almost 2,500 on-going contracts grew significantly in many areas of long-term national priority.
- For the Air Force, SAIC made progress in expanding its Omaha presence, which established SAIC as a national leader in Computer-Aided Logistic Support (CALS)
- The company won a new contract for a new control center at the Army Electronic Training Range at Fort Irwin, California, the National Training Center
- SAIC’s health care business continued its growth with the Phase 1 contract for the Tri Services Management Information Services (TRIMIS) program, developing an automated information system for military hospitals
- SAIC also made major progress toward developing an explosives detection system
