In Fiscal Year 1990, SAIC crowned 21 years of consecutive growth by achieving more than $1 billion in revenues. Growing from a small cadre of research scientists in Fiscal Year 1970 to over 11,000 employees, SAIC had become one of the largest employee-owned businesses in the U.S.

Responding to continued growth, SAIC expanded and centralized facilities.
The COMSYSTEMS staff moved into a 180,000-sq.-ft. facility in San Diego; work also was completed on a second office tower in McLean, Virginia
The company consolidated a major portion of its San Diego-based laboratory and manufacturing activities into a new 165,000-sq.-ft. facility at Campus Point
An additional 65,000-sq.-ft. building at Campus Point housed SAICs administrative department
- The acquisition of Strategic Research and Management Services in Norfolk, Virginia, strengthened SAICs operations, research, and simulation areas, along with the acquisition of several companies in Ohio and California
