SAIC Design Team Honored in SuperSkyScrapers Competition

(McLEAN, Va.) Dec. 21, 2012 – Design experts from Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) [NYSE: SAI] through its wholly owned subsidiary SAIC Energy, Environment & Infrastructure, LLC, recently placed third in SuperSkyScrapers’ competition to design a hotel tower and sky garden space.

The competition sought to achieve an inspirational, high-quality hotel development concept that set a new standard of urban and contemporary high-rise building design in the key Manhattanville neighborhood of New York City. SAIC’s design placed because it was imaginative, maximized the developmental potential of the site, served as a visual focal point, represented the context of the site, reflected the natural topography, and complemented the river view.

“We are very excited that our design was selected,” said SAIC’s director of design and team lead Mauro Dallabattista of Oklahoma City, Okla. “To receive this recognition from the competition committee is an affirmation of SAIC’s passion for architectural design, collaborative hard work, and the creativity and talent of our team.”

SuperSkyScrapers organizes skyscrapers architecture and design competitions. It is a sister award to the ArchTriumph Awards, however dedicated solely to the investigation of high-rise and very tall structure architectural design, skyscrapers’ impact on urban planning, and how they can shape or improve the lives of communities in which they exist.
