SAIC Presents at EUCI Cost-of-Service and Rate Design for Utilities Events

(CHICAGO) July 26, 2012 – David Berg, Brown Thornton, and Laurie Tomczyk, all from Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) [NYSE: SAI], will present at EUCI’s Introduction to Cost-of-Service Concepts and Techniques and Introduction to Rate Design for Electric Utilities conferences, held July 30-31 and August 1-2 both in Chicago, Ill.

The first two-day course will lead participants through the cost-of-service process from start to finish. Experts like Berg, Thornton, and Tomczyk will discuss and compare similarities and differences among investor-owned utilities, municipal utilities, and electric cooperatives in cost-of-service principles and techniques. Both traditional and unbundled cost-of-service analytical techniques will be presented. The second two-day course will build on the cost-of-service information to explore how to take the results and apply it to rate design, policy development, and decision making.

Senior Project Managers Berg and Thornton and Senior Analyst Tomczyk will review the cost-of-service process from establishing revenue requirement; functionalizing, classifying, and allocating costs; and utilizing cost-of-service results to the design of retail electric rates. SAIC’s experts have conducted this training seminar through EUCI on 15 separate occasions over the last eight years. Attendees of this presentation will gain a basic understanding of the cost-of-service and rate design process through an interactive, hands-on process.
