Dredging and Dredged Material Management
SAIC offers an extensive team of scientists with unmatched experience and expertise in the complex, multidisciplinary area of dredging and dredged material management. Our approach has evolved over 20 years providing expert consulting services to a diverse group of national and international clients, various State agencies, and commercial enterprises. Working from facilities around the U.S., SAIC scientists have pioneered the use of innovative, cost-effective methods to collect, process, and deliver information to support dredging and disposal management decisions.
Specific areas of expertise include disposal area siting and designation, physical and biological characterization studies, environmental monitoring of dredging and disposal activities using state-of-the-art technologies, development of dredged material monitoring and management plans, toxicological and chemical testing of sediments, environmental impact assessments, ecological risk assessment, development of specialized Geographic Information Systems (GIS), public outreach and education, and automated satellite surveillance and tracking of disposal activities.
In assisting our clients with assessment and mitigation for dredging and disposal projects involving contaminated sediments, SAIC provides exceptional capabilities in support of Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA)-type studies and documentation from initial Preliminary Assessments/Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies (including essential fish habitat consultations, habitat equivalency evaluations, and threatened and endangered species studies), Records of Decisions/Proposed Plans, Remedial Design, and post-habitat mitigation, long-term monitoring plans, and five-year reviews.
