Oceanography

SAIC offers a team of oceanographers, engineers, and marine scientists with extensive experience in a wide range of oceanographic and hydrodynamic studies. During frequent oceanographic and environmental field operations, SAIC employs a wide array of current meters, wave and water level gauges, turbidity sensors, conductivity / temperature / depth probes, dissolved oxygen sensors, specialized water-sampling instruments, and meteorological systems.

Since 1977, SAIC oceanographers and engineers have also designed, managed, and conducted numerous major physical oceanographic observational programs throughout the U.S. and overseas. Many of these programs have been conducted in close collaboration with both government and academic partners. SAIC's engineers have broad experience in mooring design, deployment, and maintenance from shallow water to the deep, ocean.

During the past 15 years, SAIC has successfully designed, deployed, and recovered well over 150 shallow and deep-water moorings for both commercial and governmental customers with a consistently high rate of data return. In addition to the experience necessary to effectively conduct complex field measurement programs, SAIC also has the required senior scientific staff to successfully process, analyze, and interpret these complex, multi-discipline data sets. SAIC has developed numerous specialized applications that provide innovative methods for storing, accessing, visualizing, and delivering oceanographic data to our clients using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related technologies.
