From advanced radar systems to nonimaging optics, our technology solutions are viewed as important tools for national security, homeland defense, and the global war on terrorism.

SAIC developed an advanced system that uses commercial HDTV broadcast signals to detect and track airborne and ground moving vehicles. Currently deployed as a pilot program, the system is being evaluated as a potential "gap-filler" for airspace and maritime surveillance.

Other examples of our innovative research and development solutions include:

• Abacus®: Abacus streamlines the processing and analysis of information-rich aerial imagery data from days to minutes, making information available to expedite critical decisions. The data, collected from aircraft and satellites, is used to create geologic and soil maps, monitor forestry and vegetation changes, and document hazards and the aftermath of natural disasters.
  
  
• Neural Networks: Neural network technology is applied to problems including image analysis, equipment maintenance, and performance monitoring of electric generating plants. Neural networks enable systems like SAIC's ADEPT to recognize patterns in energy usage by emulating human thought processes, including re-evaluating data to optimize operations and control costs.
