Steve Burnham
Systems Engineer
Critical Infrastructure
I work as a contractor for the FAA on runway safety. We try to make sure that planes arriving and departing don't collide with other planes or vehicles at the airport. And everyone says that's a good thing.
The Best Thing About My Job
The best part of working at SAIC is the people. I work with a group of senior, middle and junior people who all are technically competent, enthusiastic and passionate about what they do.
My Biggest Challenge
Each airport has its own environment of buildings, reflecting surfaces, things like that can cause problems for sensors and either show targets whether there aren't airplanes or not show anything where there are airplanes.
Mentoring the Next Generation
I enjoy recognizing each person for their strengths and weaknesses and trying to figure out what lights their fire and the excitement of seeing them latch on to something.
