Wes Kitchens

Weapon Systems Engineer
National Security

I joined SAIC because of the opportunities to do the kinds of things I was really interested in doing. My roles have included working with a large team of people developing a system for the Army. I have been involved in integrated communications equipment, unmanned ground and air platforms, and sensors.

It's my father, really...he developed geospatial data and helped develop maps for the Army. That was the nature of the work he did, and he just really liked what he did.

When I was in high school, I got very interested in rocketry. The propellants were ... melted in some sort of vessel that you could control the temperature on, and in my case, I used my mother's electric skillet. And we did that in the kitchen. She really didn't have any idea what we were up to.
