Katherine Terlesky
Division Manager
National Security
I am a biologist by training. I use my expertise to look at problems in information retrieval. There's a lot of information out there that we need to sift through to find the important information. The work my team does at SAIC brings actionable information to the war fighter, enabling more rapid decisions.
Look at What You Want To Do and Go Do It
My grandmother taught me to not accept the boundaries that you are given, and to push and to recognize where you can be.
My Career Epiphany
The early part of my career, I spent time exploring why organisms behaved the way they did. At some point in my career, I realized I was more interested in understanding how we can take what we know and turn it into a solution.
Don't Pigeonhole Yourself
One of the things I tell students is be multidisciplinary. Don't pigeonhole yourself into one discipline because the working world is a multidisciplinary place.
