The Adolescent Substance Abuse Counseling Service (ASACS) program is looking for highly qualified professionals with expertise in prevention education, community referral agreements, and program marketing. ASACS counselors work in a variety of settings with the adolescents and their families, school staff, community leaders, and the military command.


Position Requirements

The contractual requirements for counselors are:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Master's degree from an accredited program in social work, counseling, or psychology
  • Clinical license from one of the 50 U.S. states at the independent practice level (e.g., LCSW, or clinical psychologist)
  • State or national alcohol and other drug (AOD) certification or eligibility for the same (M.A.C, C.A.C, C.A.D.C, etc.)
  • Minimum of two years experience in the prevention and treatment of adolescent substance abuse

Must be creative and skilled in:

  • Prevention education
  • Community referral agreements
  • Program networking
  • Possess strong speaking and public relations skills

Note: Each branch of the military requires slightly different credentials for ASACS counselors. Therefore, please check with the recruiter regarding specific requirements. Credentialing requirements are not flexible; however, if you are six months away from obtaining a clinical license or certification and will meet the requirements for one of the postings within that time frame, it is not too soon to begin the interview process.
