SAIC recognizes that employee benefit programs are an important part of the total compensation package. We are committed to providing you with options to protect from catastrophic loss due to illness, injury or loss of life.
Comprehensive Benefits Programs
SAIC employees also have the opportunity to build security for the future through our stock and retirement programs. In addition to traditional employee benefits, SAIC employees enjoy working in a diverse environment which fosters personal and professional growth. Please note that benefit programs may not apply to all organizations within SAIC.
Insurance Plans
SAIC offers a variety of programs for employees to choose from, including medical, dental, vision, group term and supplemental life and accident insurance, short- and long-term disability programs. Some benefits, including the Employee Assistance Program, group term life insurance and long-term disability insurance are paid for by SAIC. The cost of other programs may be covered by a combination of company and employee pre-tax contributions.
Comprehensive Leave
Eligible employees accrue comprehensive leave each pay period. Comprehensive leave provides paid time off for vacation, personal business and short-term illness. Accrual rates vary, based upon years of service with the Company and fringe package offered by the sponsoring Business Unit.
Holidays
Most SAIC employees are eligible for nine holidays during the year. SAIC traditionally observes the following seven fixed holidays as well as two alternative holidays to be used at the employee's discretion:
- New Year's Day
- Martin Luther King Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
Holidays may vary based on contractual requirements.
Education Assistance
SAIC recognizes its employees are vital resources whose talents are critical to the success of the company. Some business units offer a Tuition Assistance Plan (TAP), which encourages self-improvement through formal education so that employees can improve or maintain job-related skills or enhance their ability to compete for reasonably attainable jobs within SAIC.
Retirement Plans
Company-funded retirement benefits are offered to employees, depending on SAIC organization and business area. Employees may need to satisfy certain service requirements to become participants and receive credit for vesting in these plans. Plan investments include SAIC stock funds and a variety of mutual funds.
Employees may also be eligible to defer a certain percentage of salary (subject to IRS limits) to the SAIC Retirement Plan. If you are eligible, the company will make a matching contribution of $.50 for every dollar you defer, up to six percent. Salary deferrals are self-directed by participants into mutual funds as well as SAIC stock funds. The SAIC Retirement Plan permits rollovers from prior employer-sponsored qualified plans. Loans and hardship withdrawals may be available under Plan rules.

Commuting
SAIC is considered one of the "Best Workplaces for Commuters" by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Transportation. This designation was developed by these two agencies in order to recognize companies that offer the very best commuting programs. This prestigious designation is awarded to only 1 percent of companies nationwide!
SAIC introduced our commuting program in 1998 to help overcome parking supply issues. Today, the program includes subsidies, transit shuttles, onsite amenities, a company-sponsored Guaranteed Ride Home program, and a flextime option. Availability of each benefit may vary based on location.
