We Are Under Attack

From identity theft to the strategic military use of the Internet, cyber crime is a persistent and growing threat. Yet the U.S. Department of Defense predicts a significant shortfall in scientists, engineers and mathematicians necessary to maintain a strong defense.

Because Cybersecurity Is National Security

To address this shortfall that will severely impact our cyber workforce, SAIC is teaming with local non-profits and universities to establish cyber defense competitions. These series of cyber defense competitions are intended to support science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) objectives.

Cyber Defense Competitions: Supporting STEM Disciplines

The mission of these competitions are to:

  • Increase cyber awareness as a preferred career choice
  • Improve appreciation for cyber oriented curriculum in college and high schools nationwide
  • Convey the defense portion of cyber as a sport to increase the number of future generation applicants in cyber careers

The number of students entering STEM disciplines is too low to meet future U.S. needs. This shortfall is of concern because our customers, our nation, and our economy rely on technological innovations — innovations created by a STEM-educated workforce.

For years, SAIC employees have donated their time and talents helping to inspire, engage, and educate elementary school, middle school and high school (K-12) students in STEM-related areas.

SAIC's Cyber Defense Trainer Technology

SAIC supports these competitions using a patent-pending cyber defense trainer that enables system administrators and security professionals to routinely exercise to successfully defend against today's cyber threats. This training, exercising, competition and certification engine is available to customers around the globe. Learn More »
