Metering, Monitoring, and Control Systems

SAIC helps customers design and implement energy metering, monitoring, and control systems to obtain consistent and predictable control of systems and equipment to generate energy savings within their facilities.

Integrated Solutions

At SAIC, we integrate energy metering, monitoring, and control systems into a complete solution to help reduce costs and streamline operations for customers. SAIC's Energy Management and Control System (EMCS) is designed to integrate with and complement existing energy management and control systems regardless of the hardware or software manufacturer. Our professionals provide seamless integration of new and existing systems into a single, efficient EMCS.

SAIC's EMCS solution utilizes a web-based platform to permit a high level of availability, access, and portability for our customers. Our approach allows customers to specifically target areas with high energy consumption resulting from over-usage, maintenance neglect, or system operation inefficiencies. SAIC achieves this by capturing, controlling, analyzing, and informing users of the energy data in an efficient, streamlined fashion.

SAIC's EMCS specialized tools help customers identify inefficiencies, provide predictable control of systems operations, and deliver instant access to actionable energy data.

  • Advanced Metering
SAIC's advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) capabilities allow the collection and distribution of highly accurate information about consumer electricity and gas usage. The infrastructure not only gathers customer data automatically, but also does so securely, reliably, and in a timely fashion while adhering to published, open standards, and permitting simple, automated upgrades and expansions.

  • Analysis Tools
SAIC's EMCS stores historical energy data to provide a basis for data analysis such as trending and reporting. These analysis tools are critical to utility load management, which minimizes severe cost penalties that may be imposed by utilities due to spikes in energy demand. Trending reports can assist in the identification of system irregularities by providing a snapshot of the state of operation, illustrating system variable changes over time, and analyzing data against system events such as user changes and system alarms. These reports enable the configuration of alarming and paging systems that notify system operators of warnings and faults, usually before production personnel notice environmental changes. This reduces downtime and increases the life expectancy of the EMCS equipment.
  • Equipment Scheduling
SAIC's equipment scheduling solution allows facilities to be automatically scheduled whether occupied or unoccupied, generating significant cost savings for our customers. Proper configuration of a schedule to control equipment enables greater management of energy resources and ultimately lowers the cost of operation within a facility or facilities. SAIC's scheduling solution does not require customer personnel to have any knowledge of the equipment to be scheduled — they only need to know the production or operating schedule.
  • Energy Enterprise Dashboard
SAIC developed the Energy Enterprise Dashboard (E2D) to empower facility managers and senior management to quickly identify significant system variances and address them in a timely manner. This allows managers to focus time and resources on resolving the issues that provide the greatest cost reduction and operation efficiency. E2D tracks metrics and sorts them by their scorecard status providing an analytic and reporting gateway which focuses resources on the most critical energy issues affecting the enterprise on a daily basis.
