Training
SAIC is committed to the personal development of all employees and acknowledges the contribution employees make to the success of the company. SAIC also believe that it is important to invest in employee training and development in order to meet the challenges and business demands of the future.
Investing in the Future
With this in mind, all SAIC employees are encouraged to contribute to identifying and meeting their own job-related development needs, the focus being on continually developing and improving new or existing skills.
Staff development starts as part of the appraisal process, which is carried out by line managers and team leaders. This process aims to identify the training and development needs of staff. The results of this process are fed into departmental training plans.
To support employee career development, a model is available to help them plot their career and manage their future. It is a tool that, for managers, can help give direction. For staff, it offers a means of meeting their personal goals in the most effective and timely manner. This tool compliments the appraisal system, giving staff clear objectives.
The training department facilitates the provision of appropriate learning techniques and tools in SAIC to assist in improving the technical competence, performance and growth of our employees. This is accomplished by providing a variety of programs, products, services and scheduled training events.
A learning methodology that is strongly encouraged is eLearning. This enables staff to access a range of courseware, either at their desktop, from home or in a dedicated learning environment. The courseware available covers a range of learning media, including; seminars, workshops, courses, and white papers. To support the learners, there is access to both online mentoring and technical support.
