Our consultants have led key client-side programmes in ICT strategy design, operational change and the e-Government arena, working at the centre of the UK government's programme to increase use of online services in conjunction with the Cabinet Office, HM Treasury and the Office of Government Commerce. We have extensive experience of identifying, developing and implementing best practice approaches to a wide range of challenges faced by public sector organisations. Working with government departments, we have conceived, developed and implemented business, IT and technical strategies.

We have worked on radical modernisation programmes at the highest levels in large government departments such as the Department for Trade and Industry, the Inland Revenue, the Department for Work and Pensions, the Department of Health and the Ministry of Defence. We have a record of delivering success in the cross-government development of new organisations, businesses and services, on time and to budget.

In 2003, SAIC acquired Opta Limited, a specialist UK professional services firm that works with clients to design and launch new businesses. It had developed a leading position in the design and launch of a number of large-scale or flagship cross-government public sector initiatives such as the NHS University, the Business.gov portal for businesses and the Direct.gov portal for citizens. Opta is now SAIC's Business Design and Launch Practice.
