Customized Risk Management Solutions for Legacy Pipelines

What if you could understand and plan for the risks related to your abandoned pipelines? SAIC's Liability and Asset Management (LAM) services provide forward-thinking solutions that can reduce risk and put company decision makers in the driver's seat.

What Are Legacy Pipelines?

Much of the crude oil pipeline infrastructure installed at the turn of the century has been abandoned or forgotten, and the documentation related to legacy pipelines has been lost, destroyed, or is incomplete. As a result, the exact location and status of these legacy facilities is often unclear. In addition, areas that were once open fields or unpopulated agricultural areas, which historically served as potential pathways for legacy pipelines, have experienced accelerated land development. As development progresses, these legacy pipelines can pose serious issues to development stakeholders and current pipeline operators.

SAIC's Web-based Liability and Asset Management (LAM) services can reduce monetary, environmental, and human health risks associated with legacy pipelines. We work with current pipeline operators and land developers to reduce client's pipeline portfolio management and maintenance costs.

"We have had clients tell us that LAM systems are the future vision for legacy pipeline liability management, and we couldn't agree more. SAIC develops customized, cost-effective liability management solutions that are tailored specifically for each client's needs and risk tolerance."

Providing Customized Risk Management

Various types of risk management systems can be designed to improve oil and gas companies' understanding of where legacy pipelines are located and the potential risks they pose. SAIC develops customized risk management solutions for each client's needs. The sheer volume, disorganization, and overall lack of historical pipeline information can make it difficult, if not impossible, for oil and gas companies to confirm or deny the ownership of encountered pipelines and any associated contamination. SAIC's LAM services identify abandoned pipeline segments with/without easement agreements, the location, and extent of historical leaks and pipeline sections with/without quitclaim agreements.
