Disposal Vessel Surveillance

Proper management of sediments from point of dredging to final disposal is a key environmental concern of all dredging programs.

SAIC's Automated Disposal Surveillance System (ADISS) is a portable vessel tracking system installed on scows and hopper dredges to accurately monitor position and draft during the loading, transit and placement of dredged materials.

Scow position is routinely broadcast to the towboat and displayed over a placement grid to guide the approach to the target cell. Following each placement, data are wirelessly transmitted, and automatically displayed on a password-protected web site.

Internet management tools can enhance federal client's operations by acquiring tide-corrected fathometer data from the towboats, and accurately calculating load volumes from draft and bin sensors. Bathymetric and volume information are displayed for each project placement grid, and target cells are wirelessly activated on towboats utilizing web site controls.

Experience and Capability Highlights

Several Federal customers have utilized ADISS nationwide to assess offshore placement activities for over 150 projects since 1997.
