Facility GIS

SAIC provides analysts and operational planners in government agencies, the military, and industry current, accurate information on key facilities worldwide.

Overview

SAIC is committed to providing customers services of added value. By incorporating multiple data sources, a more complete set of information can be used to meet customer needs. Including interactive elements and key features of the community offers users immediate display of metadata, and providing this all on one CD allows for easy distribution.

Facility Baselines Provide Accurate, Up-to-Date Descriptions of Critical Facilities Worldwide

Facility baselines are critically needed by analysts and operational planners for key facilities worldwide, including government installations, military garrisons, ports, depots, and prisons. SAIC creates and maintains accurate, data-rich facility baseline descriptions tailored to customer needs. To yield a more complete set of information, SAIC also has the capability to incorporate national data sources with commercial satellite imaging and open-source information. By incorporating our full range of geospatial production and data generation capabilities, we can produce data-rich products, including extracted feature data, base imagery, and attributed elements.

  • Trained staff: All of our personnel performing facility baseline descriptions are professionally trained and experienced imagery analysts
  • Projection, resampling method, and output pixel size
  • Quality control: Our production processes are ISO-9000 certified
  • Standardized applications: We use the imagery and geospatial analysis tools available to the Intelligence Community
  • Flexibility: Our team can respond to and address a customer's unique data needs

Image City Maps Supply City Data Information for the 21st Century

Image City Maps (ICM) and Digital Image City Maps (DICM) are improved versions of the city graphics used by government agencies. ICMs are created using a scaled orthorectified imagery base with geospatial information framework layers superimposed on the imagery. Layers include names and boundaries, elevations and contours, hydrography, and transportation and feature data over the area of interest.

SAIC is performing ICM extraction in 2-D or 3-D. In addition to the extracted features mentioned above, ICMs include Guides to Numbered Features (GNFs). GNFs are features of significance in the city, ranging from shopping areas to hospitals. Analysts perform extensive research to determine the correct name and location of these features before they are added to the ICM. SAIC creates DICMs in a georeferenced, interactive map allowing users to zoom in on certain areas, pan around the images, and see metadata by clicking on features. Users can also turn layers on and off, bookmark features, and query data. All of the software needed to use the DICM (the imagery, data, eChart, and shapefiles) will fit on one CD for easy distribution.

  • Extraction in 2-D or 3-D
  • Plotted charts containing imagery, extracted features, GNFs, and marginalia
  • eChart contains plotted information in a digital format
  • DICMs-interactive maps allowing immediate display of metadata information
