Photogrammetric Image

Photogrammetric

Photogrammetric mapping involves the extraction of terrain and feature data from imagery. Exploiting the numerous and varied sources of mapping imagery currently available, from aerial to satellite, demand a high level of expertise as well as familiarity with the sensors and products.

Overview

SAIC has extensive experience in photogrammetric production, with literally hundreds of thousands of square kilometers mapped in projects around the world. Imagery sources include all current aerial and satellite sensors, both classified and unclassified. The ISO-certified production line integrates high-end commercial software and specialized proprietary tools to optimize throughput and quality by ensuring that the best tool is available for any job. An experienced staff, supervised by certified photogrammetrists, performs photogrammetric operations in an efficient, secure environment.

Block Triangulation

SAIC routinely triangulates large blocks of aerial or satellite imagery, using control points picked from reference imagery such as DPPDB.

Orthorectification and Mosaicing

SAIC's high-throughput orthoprocessing provides large-area coverage with rapid turnaround and high-quality. Orthomosaics with full radiometric correction are produced using automated seamline generation and balancing.

DEM Extraction

SAIC is expert in the use of current automated terrain extraction tools, as well as efficiently inspecting and editing the results of such processing. This guarantees a high-quality product at the lowest possible cost, even in challenging terrain.

Feature Extraction

The extraction of 2-D and 3-D features is an area of special expertise, including complicated datasets such as 3-D urban feature data or airfields.

Accuracy Assessments

Quantifying the accuracy of existing cartographic or source data requires expertise in production processes, source data characteristics, and the practical and statistical properties of measurements. SAIC has performed numerous rigorous evaluations of both raster and vector feature data of various scales and contents.
