3-D Urban Feature Data

SAIC uses this high-resolution database to support threat analysis and tactical planning in urban environments.

Overview

3-D Urban Feature Data is a high-resolution database primarily used to support threat analysis and tactical planning in an urban environment. This information is also used to exploit existing technologies to produce a 2-D/3-D Visualization tool to assist in Line-of-Sight analysis, mission planning, and situational awareness.

To support these visualization activities, SAIC extracts a vector database containing data derived from digital stereo imagery, making feature identification, delineation, and attribution more precise. Digital production systems are used to perform extraction and standard GIS data production to perform culture, transportation, vegetation, and hydrographic collection processes.

  • Features extracted as 3-D vector features, with geometrically derived attribution, including height, width, area, and elevation information
  • Resulting data is in common GIS data formats that are directly compatible with commercial off-the-shelf software packages

Over 300 feature classes, such as buildings, roads, power lines, and rivers, are compiled as separate vector layers, which allow the end user the capability to create customized datasets by importing only the feature types needed. We design our products to provide accurate positional data for identifiable features that are attributed according to client needs.
