Stereo Airfields
The stereo airfield collection process produces high-fidelity aeronautical information and precise, comprehensive geospatial data for airfields around the globe.
Precise Geospatial Airfield Data for Operational Effectiveness
The increase in the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in today's intelligence community pushes airfield geospatial intelligence data to the forefront of operational effectiveness. The detailed geospatial intelligence data collected provides a precise three-dimensional (3-D) snapshot of the airfield, including support facilities, pavement surfaces, and obstructions in and around each airfield.
Airfield features are collected in 2-D and 3-D shapefile formats for use in GIS applications to support critical mission requirements. The features are collected from stereo imagery utilizing state-of-the-art digital production systems and software. Stereo airfield data provides the foundation for the geospatial aeronautical intelligence data layer. Each airfield dataset is a compilation of movement surfaces, buildings, and navigational aids, as well as the highest obstructions in the approach path and adjacent airfield areas.
The stereo airfield collection process produces high-fidelity aeronautical information and precise, comprehensive geospatial data for airfields around the globe. The SAIC production and technical staff are experts in the precision collection of airfield geospatial data.
- Features extracted as 3-D vector features, with geometrically derived attribution (including height, wide, area, and elevation information).
- Resulting data is in common GIS data formats that are directly compatible with commercial off-the-shelf software packages
Feature data supports aircraft operations, obstruction identification, and line-of-sight analysis.
