The Virtual Simulator Product Line

Two major challenges are driving expansion of SAIC's Common Driver Trainers (CDT) product line for military vehicles:

• Sky-rocketing petrol and vehicle maintenance costs in theater.
• The need to accelerate troop deployment and readiness through consistent, immersive training.

SAIC's virtual simulators provide efficient, cost-effective, flexible, measurable and trackable simulation training for students on a motion-based Common Driver Trainer (CDT) platform. Effective driver training on military vehicles is essential for battlefield mobility, mission coordination, survivability, and success. View SAIC's product line video.

Here are some of the features in the CDT product line:

• Integrates commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technology with military simulations
• Interoperates with Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) compliant simulations
• Complies with the U.S. Army's Synthetic Environment Core (SE Core) program
• Provides preprogrammed, low, medium and/or high-fidelity scenarios based on the particular simulator model
• Enables mission training in various terrains, weather conditions, and times of day
• Features a six-degrees of freedom (DOF) CDT platform motion base which delivers a realistic feel and drive to students as they execute various driver training scenarios
• Can include automatic student scoring, after-action review and training record management along with a scenario development tool
• Can link to other air and ground simulators through One Semi-Automated Force (OneSAF®)
• Can fully integrate into live, virtual and constructive battlespace for joint training exercises
• Provides access to additional scenario development tools
• System customization available

Rapid Prototyping of Military Vehicle Cabs for the CDT Platform

"The CDT provides the basic architecture for a wide variety of drive platforms and interchangeable military vehicle cabs. SAIC's CDT platform delivers 80 percent of the solution and our custom engineering provides the remaining 20 percent. This combination enables rapid prototyping of ground and air vehicle cabs for individual or networked virtual simulated training and dramatically reduces the cost of each simulator for our customers."
