MILES Live Training Products
Delivering tomorrow's tactical training technology today for the warfighter's edge — our products are reliable, lightweight, interoperable, transparent and self-powering.
Tomorrow's Tactical Engagement Simulation (TES) Systems Today
SAIC delivers cutting-edge solutions to respond to your training challenges, from Basic Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) components to the most recent MILES variant, the Combat Vehicle System (CVS), and exciting emerging efforts like One Tactical Engagement Simulation System (OneTESS), Operational Test - Tactical Engagement System (OT-TES), and geometric-bearing (GB) systems.
Here are some of our innovations that provide future capabilities today:
Wireless systems that are easy to install and adaptable to the user. Wireless means there are no cables that can be cut or damaged during an exercise; this helps to reduce your support costs. Quick installation replaces the burden of previous cumbersome products. This helps save valuable installation time and provides more of what you want — tactical training time.
Light weight, low-power components that minimize interference with training and weapon systems, especially for the dismounted warfighter. This enables you to train as you fight. SAIC MILES systems replace the heavy, outdated equipment and batteries of yesteryear to significantly ease the warfighter's load. This enables tough, realistic training without distracting cables and harnesses of past systems. Batteries recharge on the go using embedded solar panels or vehicle battery power.
Common components and interoperability throughout our dismounted and mounted systems allow you to combine capabilities of different wireless components to fit unique training needs. This lowers production costs and provides the opportunity to procure more systems to support your training objectives.
Extensive Fielding and Non-Line-of-Sight Geometric-Bearing (GB) Technology Experience at a number of U.S. Army training bases, and successfully embedded training products inside vehicles.
Combat Vehicle System (CVS) Common Kit
The CVS Common Kit incorporates a modular and adaptable wireless, MILES state-of-the-art system. It provides enhanced training fidelity in force-on-force training exercises. Designed for the different combat vehicles of today and tomorrow, the CVS Common Kit is the backbone of a versatile training system. Vehicle adapter kits like the Abrams Main Battle Tank, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, and their respective variants are easily added to the CVS Common Kit to create a complete vehicle system. The CVS system:
- Delivers realistic training and testing capability
- Helps to reduce life-cycle support costs
- Provides logical transition to OneTESS
CVS Abrams Adapter Kit
The CVS Abrams Adapter Kit combines with the CVS Common Kit to outfit the numerous variants of the M1 series of Main Battle Tank and can be modified for use with European Union (EU) tank vehicles, like the Challenger 2 MBT, Leopard II MBT, and LeClerc MBT. The Laser Transmitter Adapter mounts to the COAX gun flash shroud and mounts the Wireless Laser Transmitter (WLT) and other components from the CVS Common Kit to function over the wireless network like an Abrams weapons system.
CVS Bradley Adapter Kit
The CVS Bradley Adapter Kit combines with the CVS Common Kit to outfit numerous variants of the Bradley family of vehicles. It can be modified to work with the Warrior IFV, Marder IFV, Piranha IFV, Pandur IFV, and the Dingo Recon/Future Rapid Effects System. Unlike the Abrams Adapter Kit, the Bradley Laser Transmitter Adapter has aural WESS to replicate weapons firing. A cable-free TOW Weapon Effect Simulator mounts in the TOW launcher. This supports realistic loading and unloading of the system. Built with safety in mind, SAIC's cable free TOW has multiple safety features to protect the warfighter from accidental discharge.
Wireless Independent Target System (WITS)
The WITS provides noncombat vehicles and targets, such as bridges and buildings, with a high-fidelity detection system for real-time casualty assessment. WITS has a modular, open architecture and provides maximum technology insertion flexibility while helping to dramatically lower cost of ownership.
MK-19 Simulator Player Unit
Through its modular design, the SAIC MK-19 Simulator Player Unit provides an interoperable solution that simulates the firing and actual effects of an MK-19 in a MILES environment. It provides the common approach for the Stryker Remote Weapon Station, M113 pintle mount, AAV, Humvee (HMMWV), and ground mount.
Individual Weapon System (IWS) for the Dismounted Warrior
SAIC's IWS provides maximum transparency to the warfighter during training. IWS is light weight, small and low power, making it one of the lightest, capable systems fielded to date. The total weight of the Small Arms Transmitter (SAT), Wireless User Interface, and Wireless Detectors is less than 0.5Kg. And because the IWS system is wireless, it is easy to mount on all uniform configurations. This makes the IWS one of the most adaptable and flexible available today for the dismounted soldier.
