SAIC NASA Integrated Communications Services (NICS) Recruiting Web Site
NASA selected SAIC to provide a variety of communication services for the NASA Integrated Communications Services (NICS) contract. SAIC started providing these services on June 1, 2011. During the first year of the contract, we are required to transition 12 more contracts that provide communications service at NASA Centers into the NICS contract.
Within the IT environment, NASA has engaged its contractors to support them with the challenge ahead. NASA's IT Infrastructure Integration Program (I3P) approach aggressively addresses the challenge with four separate initiatives under the I3P umbrella. NASA's Communications Service Office (CSO) and the SAIC Team are meeting the challenge via the NASA Integrated Communications Services (NICS) contract. NICS offers SAIC the opportunity to continue our strategic partnership with NASA while also implementing state-of-the-art networking capabilities. NICS enables end-to-end Network communications for the Agency for the first time ever by combining LAN services at each Center with the Agency's global wide-area network.
For the NICS Contract, SAIC will provide managerial and technical expertise to support NASA's Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for corporate and mission communications needs, including local area network management at all NASA centers. Functions include corporate and mission enterprise services; center and associated component facility services; infrastructure projects; and contract management services. The contract is a follow-on effort for numerous agency and center contracts, including the Unified NASA Information Technology Services (UNITeS) contract and portions of the Outsourcing Desktop Initiative for NASA (ODIN) contracts.
The NICS contract, as part of the I3P, is managed by the agency's CIO. There will be a three-year base period, followed by one two-year option; one three-year option; and one two-year option period. The options may be exercised at NASA's discretion. The NICS contract is a cost-plus-award-fee/incentive-fee contract, with an indefinite- delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) feature. The base award of this contract is $340 million. The maximum potential value of this contract if all options are exercised, including the maximum IDIQ value, is $1.3 billion.
We are currently searching for qualified candidates to support this new work with SAIC or one of our team member companies. The schedule for transitions (157k PDF file) provides the current sequence of contracts.
