Any interview process can be overwhelming, but we’re here to help you prepare in advance with the valuable information below. 

Getting to Know SAIC

Preparing for the Interview

We all know the value of first impressions. Here are some tips for some of the best ways to stand out.

  • Understand our core values and how they apply to you

    For example, one of our core values is Mission Understanding. Every employee at SAIC has customers, whether they are internal or external. This area focuses on passion for our mission and mission success, and encourages employees to do the right thing for the customer. Your interviewer will be interested in your past experiences impacting customer success.

    • Be prepared. Have a copy of your resume in hand, be well rehearsed for likely questions and have all your research top of mind.
    • Know your strengths. Think of ways to interject them into the conversation where relevant.
    • Be specific. Think about coursework and projects you have worked on and be ready to use examples when answering related questions.
  • Understand our company and our work

    In addition to understanding our core values, it is important to be familiar with our business prior to your interview. You can learn about our company by exploring our web site and exploring all of the information available. Remember to read our news releases to learn about recent contract wins, awards, or the latest developments throughout our company. It will also help to research the web for information about our industry, the competitive marketplace, and our competitors. If you know a current SAIC employee, contact him or her to learn even more.

  • Practice your answers to interview questions

    Review the specific position description and make a list of questions you think the interviewer might ask. Spend time thinking about your responses. Be straightforward. Have specific responses prepared. Be sure to highlight experiences where you have demonstrated accomplishments related to the position for which you are interviewing.

  • Ask questions

    Be prepared with a few questions for your interviewer or recruiter. Through your research about SAIC and your position of interest, you should be able to easily craft 2-3 questions. Asking focused questions shows that you are interested, ambitious, and that you are prepared.

  • Be energetic and enthusiastic

    An excellent way to make yourself stand out is to be especially prepared and engaged during your interview. Candidates who demonstrate enthusiasm and knowledge of their desired position are more likely to be noticed and remembered by an interviewer who may speak with multiple candidates in one day.

The Interview Process

First Round Interviews

The initial interview is the first time you’ll meet with a potential co-worker, mentor, and manager. We’ll ask a number of questions to help us to get to know you. The specific types of questions we’ll ask depend on the position you’re applying for, but all of these questions are intended to help us discover your technical capabilities and potential fit into SAIC’s culture. Normally, you’ll have two 30-minute interviews, either in-person at your university or college, or a virtual interview conducted through one of our on-line applications. These interviews tend to focus on your specific experience and interests, along with technical and skills-based questions to determine your expertise.

Remember, your interview is an opportunity for you to get to know us, and for us to get to know you. Relax. Ask questions. Listen. Learn. This interview could be the beginning of a long-lasting career with SAIC.

Second Round Interviews

A second-round technical phone interview may be scheduled based on the results of your first-round interview. The second interview will involve more in-depth questions regarding your technical skills to determine your possible fit within one of our service lines. Your recruiter can provide more information about this particular step in the recruiting process.

Receiving an Offer

Once you have received an offer of employment, your official onboarding experience will begin. This process is designed to welcome you, make you feel comfortable, and to provide all the information and support you need to start your SAIC career. Your recruiter is here to guide you every step of the way.
