SAIC has supported the FBI for nearly two decades, launching the national computerized criminal history system, called the Interstate Identification Index. We created the central database and developed the application for the National Instant Check System (NICS), which performs instant background checks of potential gun buyers. We supported the implementation of the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA).
We developed and now enhance the nation's DNA database, the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), now in 262 domestic and foreign laboratories, and for over 10 years we developed and operated the Law Enforcement Online (LEO) system, a secure online community that helps law enforcement at all levels fight crime.
SAIC supports local and state law enforcement and criminal justice with its ALIAS® computerized criminal history system. Used by the states of Oregon, Washington, Michigan, Alaska, and the Commonwealth of Kentucky to gain access to criminal history information in real time, ALIAS is fully integrated into U.S. national, state, and regional criminal history databases.
We also provide electronic document management to a variety of state and local agencies, including the states of New York and Maryland. Our optical imaging, record management, and workflow systems help courts, motor vehicle departments, and police departments digitize and maximize their information.
