Corrections Systems Support Services
SAIC is developing a staff planning and employee information management system for the corrections industry called the Institution Staff Deployment System (ISDS). The ISDS is designed specifically to meet the employee scheduling needs of correctional institutions, from initial set up of an institution through employee time recording and attendance information. Schedulers will be able to optimally layout posts using Relief Factor calculations to cover an institution on a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week basis. The system's flexibility helps correctional facilities maximize allocated positions and work assignments while avoiding overstaffing and reducing overtime.
ISDS supports extensive record keeping and reporting, making it useful for both institution schedulers and management level users. In addition to maintaining robust records of planned work assignments and records of actual work performed, ISDS captures detailed data regarding employee demographics, absenteeism, overtime, requests for leave, and training and certifications.
No two correctional facilities are the same. ISDS is flexible enough to handle growth and change in scheduling needs, allowing its users to plan for and deal with unusual scenarios that invariably arise from time to time. This flexibility comes at no cost to user friendliness and ease of use. Because ISDS has been implemented in the current Windows standard, it will take minimal time and training for new users to achieve proficiency.

California Department of Corrections
SAIC staff has successfully provided LAN/WAN and desktop maintenance services to the California Department of Corrections for over ten years. The system has grown from 14 systems interconnected over a WAN, to more than 200 computers and 3,000 peripheral devices interconnected over LANs/WANs. It is the backbone and mission-critical system for monitoring inmates at correctional institutions throughout the State of California. As part of the effort, SAIC operates a help desk that dispatches field engineers throughout the state to quickly address maintenance issues. The success of this relationship has been dependent on quality service and SAIC ability to adapt to the client's increasing growth in its automation environment.
Oregon Department of Corrections
SAIC provides a variety of software support services to the Oregon Department of Corrections. SAIC successfully performed Year 2000 remediation for ODOC's legacy system in a rapid, cost-effective and quality manner, ahead of schedule and under budget. In addition to this specialized support service, SAIC also provides software maintenance services on the legacy Corrections Information System and is developing modern, client-server manpower scheduling and sentence calculation software that will later be integrated into ODOC's legacy enterprise systems.
