SAIC-Frederick

Located in Frederick, Maryland, the FFRDC is a national laboratory dedicated to cancer and AIDS research under the largest single research contract awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services.

SAIC-Frederick, Inc. employs more than 1,700 scientific, technical, and support personnel. Its staff conducts hypothesis-driven research, provides support for domestics and international clinical trials, and establishes and maintains programs in advanced technology, such as nanotechnology, proteomics, genomics, imaging, and analytical chemistry. It also operates two biopharmaceutical manufacturing facilities — one for NCI and the other for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases/Vaccine Research Center — that produce cGMP quality drugs, vaccines, and other biologics for use in clinical trials.

Dr. Larry Arthur, OTS Principal Investigator (PI), is responsible for the comprehensive management and oversight of all scientific and business activities conducted on the OTS contract. The OTS PI and his staff manage the Government's resources and are responsible for the establishment and management of new research, research support, and administrative effort requested by the NCI Office of the Director (OD) or by the NCI Divisions and their laboratories, branches, or programs, or by other Government entities.

SAIC-Frederick, Inc. maintains a Work For Others program that enables it to perform work for organizations other than NCI if it falls within the purpose and mission of the FFRDC. SAIC-Frederick, Inc. places paramount importance on quality scientific and business management and performance, high efficiency, cost effectiveness, optimal resource utilization, and technological currency.
