Manage services via a CMMI® Level 5 project management office including QA and performance metrics. Perform against 24 Service Level Agreements and consistently exceed all. Provide scientific domain expertise to effectively address unique user requirements.
Leading Biotechnology Firm
Identified the 100 highest-probability functional linkages among 107 that are possible in a 1,500-member proteome. Dramatically improved research productivity by rapidly focusing experimental efforts on defensible discovery opportunities in which to establish competitive advantage.
Key Government Projects
National Cancer Institute, Frederick
Maintain and monitor all scientific databases, develop new ways to query biological databases, and perform scientific data analysis. Provide researchers enhanced access to a breadth of bioinformatics data sources, while avoiding costly data management functions.
National Institute of Health
SAIC is supporting the National Institutes of Health's (NIH's) Electronic Research Administration (eRA) in its efforts to update the Institutes' research grants application and processing system. We are migrating the Institutes' grants management system to an object-oriented design and development scheme. Each year, the NIH processes approximately 55,000 research and training applications that equate to two million pieces of paper. eRA intends to convert this huge volume of paper to an electronic medium for full electronic grants administration and to fully integrate its grants function with other major enterprise systems.
National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke
SAIC's efforts on behalf of the National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS's) Collaborative Program to Accelerate Development of Therapeutics for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) have involved creating and managing a program to identify promising SMA therapeutics, developing animal models for evaluating those therapeutics, and advancing candidates so they can be considered for clinical trials. In collaboration with NINDS and the SMA community, we develop program plans, issue solicitations, evaluate proposals, award and manage research subcontracts, and resolve IP issues that might impede collaboration. This program currently includes human embryonic stem cell research projects in two areas: development of cell-culture models of SMA and development of a stem cell-derived motor system for testing therapeutics.
Department of Defense
SAIC works on many important biotechnology-based programs for the US military. SAIC performs advanced research on vaccines. We conduct threat assessments and readiness reviews associated with Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear terrorism. We work with our customers in establishing new relationships among government and private sector entities to advance biological research needed for national and homeland security.
