Range Systems

SAIC recently completed the first phase of the Egyptian National Training Center, which is being used by the Egyptian Army for realistic combat training of its forces. Modeled after the SAIC-designed U.S. Army National Training Center at Fort Irwin, California, the center will allow Egyptian forces to simulate battalion-level combat.

SAIC supplies Large Area Tracking Ranges (LATRs) to the U.S. Navy Pacific Missile Range Facility in Hawaii, and to the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center, Andros Island, Bahamas. These two LATR systems join the two previously delivered ranges (off San Diego and Virginia) to provide large 500-nautical-mile coastal training areas. We are currently adding air combat maneuvering instrumentation capability to LATR. SAIC also develops underwater Shallow Water Training Ranges (SWTR) such as the one at the Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands, Hawaii.

Range Systems is comprised of the following solutions:

  • Airborne Test and Evaluation Ranges
  • Airborne Training Ranges
  • Naval Training Ranges
  • Underwater Ranges
  • Facility Security Assessments
