GEAR EON (EDGE of Network)
GEAR EON is designed for uses at the edge of the network. The memory stick contains an operating system, data service, and GIS client open source or vendor-specific product.
Application
SAIC developed GEAR EON with use cases in mind, where geospatial enablement is required in rapidly changing, ad-hoc environments. GEAR EON is deployable in crisis and operation events and designed for mobility and ease-of-use. The system design is suitable for rapid sharing and dissemination of mission-specific geospatial data and imagery sets to persons in the field.
Features
EON provides the user with a fully functional operating system, geospatial information system, and data or imagery that is contained on a memory stick. EON is designed to provide a highly portable geospatial information solution for users in the field by allowing any computer system configured to boot from the USB drive to access the GIS software and geospatial data contained in the EON package. The small size of the EON USB memory stick allows for maximum portability and can be transported in the pocket of a user.
Benefits
GEAR EON can help eliminate time and resources lost to data downloading or updates during critical operations when such access may not be available. GEAR EON is suitable for providing critical mission information and designed to provide users with a reliable source for their geospatial data, services, and capabilities in a vast variety of environments.
