1RU 8 Circuit Power Distribution Assembly

Overview

SAIC has developed a compact solid state eight circuit Power Distribution Assembly (PDA).

Applications

The one rack unit (1RU) package, ruggedized for shipboard and other harsh military applications, is designed to achieve Shock Grade A qualification and is plug and play replaceable with existing two and three RU PDAs currently in fleet use. The compact size provides integrators with increased rack space for equipment installation and a total of eight controlled AC outputs.

Features

All Circuit Breakers are MIL-SPEC qualified components that resolve the problem of incidental CB trip upon Shock Impact. All circuitry and relays are solid state for reliability. The PDU accepts standard Global Command and Control System — Maritime (GCCS-M) and Tactical Integrated Digital Systems (TIDS) rack version alarm and interlock inputs and includes a Battle Short override circuit and UPS interfaces.

The PDU fits any EIA standard 19 inch rack opening and includes cable treatment for ease of access when using either standard GCCS-M or TIDS racks.

The front panel includes AC output switches for eight independently interlocked outputs. A separate unswitched output is provided for fans or blowers mounted in the rack. The unit is protected by a 20 Amp MIL-SPEC circuit breaker.

Front panel LED indicators show power status and alarm conditions. An audible alarm is also provided. Alarm conditions are latched until reset by an operator or technician at the front panel or an optional remote keyboard (bullnose).

Benefits

The 1RU 8 Circuit PDA is designed to surmount problems identified in MIL-SPEC Heavy Weight Shock Testing performed on GCCS-M. This PDA also addresses requirements for TIDS racks.
