Passive LINK Tap (PLT)

This product provides a common tactical picture between control and combat systems by accessing data from Naval Tactical Data Systems and retransmitting into multiple formats.

Overview

The SAIC Passive Link Tap (PLT) provides the GCCS-M a common tactical picture between the control and combat systems by accessing parallel data from Naval Tactical Data Systems and retransmitting that data serially into multiple formats, including TDP/EDO, Indian Head, AEGIS Extended, and Raw.

Applications

The PLT is a completely ruggedized solution which offers eight serial ports with three channels supporting each of the four serial formats. Three channels which the user can choose either Indian Head or RAW and two channels that are hard coded for TDP or Indian Head support. A separate channel (channel 7) has the added capability of connecting to a KG-84 interface for Remote Link-11 operations.

Features

Features of the PLT design include an improved mounting bracket, Intel's faster Celeron chip, and an added Ethernet port (currently inactive) to support future requirements. Additional features include:

  • TDP, Indian Head, AEGIS Extended, and Raw (unformatted) serial formats available
  • Channels 0 and 1 hardcoded to provide TDP and Indian Head formats, respectively
  • Channels 2 through 7 can be programmed to transmit all available formats
  • All channels transmit user selected format simultaneously
  • Channel 7 has added optional capability to control a KG-84 for Remote Link-11 transmission
  • Available I/F Cables - Standard 25 foot: 90x90; 90x92; 90.78; 90.158
  • Available JBox configurations: 90x90x90; 90x90x92; 92x90x92; 90x90x158
  • Custom cables/configurations available upon request

Benefits

The PLT offers a user-friendly front panel with a menu-driven display and an integrated input device. Keyboard and video ports on the rear panel allow for operational maintenance. The use of the non-volatile flash disk eliminates the need for magnetic media.
