VACIS® Imaging Kit

Overview

The Model VIKCO-2000 VACIS® Imaging Kit consists of core VACIS technology packaged for mounting on a variety of military and commercial vehicle platforms via an electromechanical interface (sold separately). The VACIS Imaging Kit produces images used to assist in the evaluation of the contents of trucks, containers, cargo and passenger vehicles to determine the possible presence of many types of contraband. The VACIS Imaging Kit includes detectors, a Cobalt-60 source, and all VACIS imaging, safety and control components.

Applications

The VACIS Imaging Kit allows customers to apply the capabilities of a wide range of vehicle platforms to their inspection scenarios. The system provides substantial flexibility to assist with a variety of different requirements, including border interdiction, contraband screening, commercial cargo inspection and force protection (military and high-threat vehicle screening).

Features

A vehicle equipped with the VACIS Imaging Kit allows inspectors to scan a series of containers in a single pass using the "Quick Save" software feature. Gamma ray and video images of the target vehicle are stored in the on-board computer to allow further review and analysis. These data can also be transmitted to remote viewing stations using commonly available hard-wired, fiber-optic, or wireless communication interfaces. The VACIS Imaging Kit provides the same imaging features that are available on all of SAIC's commercial VACIS® product

Benefits

The VACIS Imaging Kit utilizes gamma rays, which allows for relatively lower cost, small operating space, high system reliability/availability, and safe operation. Object penetration is approximately 6.25 inches (15.9 cm) of steel. With verified uptimes averaging 98%, the VACIS Imaging Kit is designed for easy maintenance and fast cycle time, as well as significant operational flexibility.

The VACIS product line and its Technology are subject to the United States' Export Administration Regulations. Diversion contrary to U.S. law is prohibited. The technology may not be resold, transferred, transshipped or exported from the United States or reexported without prior authorization by the U.S. Government.
