RadStar® Radio Transceiver Dosimetry System
Overview
The RadStar® system is the most advanced radio transmission dosimetery system available, providing detection, radio transmission, and remote display of radiation exposure information.
Applications
RadStar remotely monitors controlled areas and personnel working in a wide range of adverse conditions including:
- High radiation field gradients
- Fields that are difficult to define with a high level of confidence
- Changing radiation conditions
- Diving Applications
The system's Model PDE-4 Telemetric Dosimeter supports one internal detector and four external detectors. These detectors may be used to monitor a worker's extremities or to form a wireless area monitoring network. In either application, the Model PDE-4 exhibits considerably longer transmission distances than any other available unit and, when required, the PDE-4 may also be used as a wireless repeater to extend transmission ranges around obstacles or over even greater distances.
The RadStar system uses spread-spectrum radio transmissions to provide high transmission reliability and extended range, with minimum transmitting power.
Features
The RadStar system is the first "teledosimeter" system to provide two-way communications using spread-spectrum transmission technology. Two-way communications improve worker safety by alerting the worker and the base station if alarm settings are exceeded or if communications are lost. Also, alarm set points can be changed remotely from the base station as the worker moves between high and low radiation jobs. In and around reinforced concrete or over long distances, the Radstar system outperforms all other transmitting dose management systems. See photo
