VACIS® M6500 Mobile Cargo-Imaging System

Overview

SAIC's VACIS® M6500 system combines state-of-the-art imaging with flexible mobile operation. Featuring a high-energy x-ray source on a rugged mobile platform, the VACIS M6500 system provides high performance and throughput in a wide variety of operational scenarios.

Applications

The VACIS M6500 system is designed for use in a variety of inspection scenarios — at seaports, terminals, border crossings, military bases and other high-threat facilities; on streets and highways; and even in rugged remote locations. The system is entirely self-contained and can be readied for use in minutes.

Features

The VACIS M6500 system can scan standard trucks and containers, and virtually any other vehicle or cargo of similar size. In stationary scanning mode, under recommended operating conditions, the system can scan vehicles in the normal flow of traffic at gates or other checkpoints.

With its high-energy x-ray source, the VACIS M6500 system can penetrate more than a foot of steel at normal scanning speeds. The system provides excellent image quality, and SAIC's powerful image-enhancement software helps operators analyze images quickly and accurately.

The VACIS M6500 system uses a very low x-ray dose. The dose to cargo is just 4.1 µSv — about the same as airline passengers receive naturally from the sky during a normal cross-country flight.
