Brief/Debrief Station
Overview
The SAIC Brief/Debrief Station (B/DS) is a turn key product for use at simulator facilities to provide Mission Brief or rehearsal, real-time Mission Observation and post-Mission Debrief capability for Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) and other distributed simulations. The Brief/Debrief Station is built upon the proven core software architecture using commercially available PC hardware running under Windows. View Brief/Debrief Station screenshots.
Applications
The Brief/Debrief Station offers multiple PC hosts, graphics displays, and hardware controllable from a single operator station. The Brief/Debrief Station software can also be hosted on training assets such as an Instructor Operator Station (IOS) or other simulation controllers to provide scenario visualization and data recording.
Features
The client/server plug-in design provides client applications with protocol transparent network communications through the Brief/Debrief Station software's API. Features include:
- Protocol independent data recording and playback including entity state data, simulation event information and simulation management notification
- Display of significant events that took place during the mission, correlated in time with entity dynamics data on the Mission Event Timeline
- 2D Plan view displays
- 3D displays that show entity movement and interactions similar to Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) displays
- Tabular entity information displays
- Map backgrounds produced from Compressed Arc Digitized Raster Graphics (CADRG)
- Terrain backgrounds using OpenFlight terrain
- Voice record and playback
- Distributed debrief support using Smart Board and coordinated playback of log files
The plug-in design allows for the development of custom client applications such as weapon scoring displays, aural tone playback, and displays that show repeaters of cockpit avionics and switches.
Benefits
The number of hosts and the number and size of monitors for audience viewing can be customized to meet user requirements. The core Brief/Debrief Station software can be adapted to any network protocol via a new or pre-existing SIMTools communication client including DIS and HLA.
