Interceptor Flight Tool (IFT)
Overview
Interceptor Flight Tool solves the ballistic missile interceptor flight problem. The core intercept generator can compute complex measures of effectiveness of missile defense systems, or produce one-on-one engagement results.
Applications
Defended Area Footprint: Computes areas that can be defended by an interceptor missile. Integrates with Analytical Graphics Inc.'s Satellite Tool Kit® (STK®) software and Missile Flight Tool (MFT), so defended areas can be visualized in 2-D or 3-D.
Launch Area Denied: Computes the launch area denied to a threat missile by the presence of an interceptor. Given a defended point, interceptor, and base, there will be a region from which a threat missile cannot be launched without it being intercepted.
Interception Scenarios: IFT computes the trajectory of the interceptor. The user can choose earliest possible intercept, latest possible intercept time, or other intercept times. The scenario can be displayed with other air, ground, and space assets in STK.
Features
- Integrates with STK/VO® software and MFT via STK/Connect™ software.
- Sophisticated interception calculation engine.
- Graphical user interface.
- Missile designer allows you to construct or modify existing interceptors.
- Database of pre-built interceptors representing a wide range of capabilities, from short range to very long range exoatmospheric interceptors.
- Compute satellite intercepts and aircraft intercepts.
- Operates on Windows® 2000/XP operating systems.
Benefits
- Integrates with STK® software for creation of battle management systems to include ground or space-based sensors that trigger target detection and launch opportunity, and time delayed response.
- Uses the MFT missile trajectory propagation engine.
- Validated through many years of use and extensive testing.
- Allows rapid construction of what-if interceptors of up to 6 stages. Computes fly-out fans showing basic interceptor capability.
