OLIVE User Deployment Offerings
User Deployment Offerings are designed for customers who are ready to provide virtual world services or user applications. SAIC provides seven OLIVE user deployment support offerings. These offerings are designed for any size organization interested in using one of OLIVE's out-of-the-box virtual world content applications. They include both customer-hosted application support and SAIC cloud-hosted access services.

OLIVE Content Packs
OLIVE's expanding industry and governmental application content packs currently support a variety of virtual world implementations including organizational collaboration and meetings; healthcare, medical and life sciences operations; government and defense operations and exercise training; public sector; energy management; transportation logistics; financial services; retail sales; and higher education environments. Recent additions to OLIVE's expanding virtual world (VW) content packs include:
- Organizational Collaboration and Meetings Content Pack – The Meeting Content Pack 3-D products and scenes supplement enable collaboration through additional office and conference room objects and settings.
- Army Content Pack – The Army Content Pack 3-D products and scenes supplement enable a variety of individual and group training or planning exercises that provide realistic interactions with weapons, vehicles, and equipment in contemporary urban and country environments.
- First Responder Content Pack – The First Responder Content Pack 3-D products and scenes supplement enable a variety of emergency response, hazardous material response, safety, transportation, and operations training exercises.

OLIVE Developer Offerings
Developer Offerings provide customers with a growing set of existing and available virtual world applications through the Developer Offerings, with or without SAIC's application development services, to create their own unique application for user deployment. Developer offerings give customers access to the extensive OLIVE Software Development Toolkit (SDK) and bundled support and training for developing specific applications and/or running pilots using virtual world technology. These offerings are designed for any size organization interested in developing their own unique OLIVE virtual world application. They include both customer-hosted application support and SAIC cloud-hosted access services.
SAIC provides three OLIVE Developer offerings:

The Developer Offerings provide access to the full OLIVE SDK to gain an understanding of the capabilities of the system, and the various technologies and integrated applications that work in conjunction with the OLIVE platform. These offerings can support development, testing, demonstrations, prototypes, and pilots of virtual world technology before committing to a full production deployment.
Both perpetual developer offerings include a non-deployment developer license of OLIVE and four Content Packs that contain pre-built virtual world assets and provide significant functionality out-of-the-box. The Developer Offerings provide associated annual maintenance services for corporations, government, academic organizations, studios, systems integrators, and others who are interested in concept development and pilot user test cases to evaluate virtual world applications that leverage the OLIVE platform capabilities and toolset.
OLIVE Perpetual Developer Server Pack License (OLVDEV-X) – Designed for customers of all sizes interested in utilizing OLIVE's developer capabilities and services to meet their organizational virtual world application development needs. Our perpetual licensing approach provides an affordable path for OLIVE developers to scale their capabilities with growing application needs, while providing the confidence of indefinite license ownership. This offer is priced on a per-installed-machine basis with graduated discounting upon additional developer license installations.
The initial purchase of the Developer Perpetual License includes the complete OLIVE SDK, application content software, user documentation, the Getting Started with Olive In-World Training class, access to Self-Paced Tutorials, the OLIVE Product Knowledge Base, the Self-Support Portal, and the initial year of Developer License Maintenance, which provides online software upgrades and access to on-line OLIVE technical support expertise. The Developer Offerings provide associated annual maintenance services for corporations, government, academic organizations, studios, systems integrators, and others who are interested in concept development and pilot user test cases to evaluate virtual world applications that leverage the OLIVE platform capabilities and toolset.
OLIVE Perpetual Developer License Annual Maintenance Service (OLVDEVMS-X) – The annual maintenance service for the developer license provides OLIVE customers with the confidence that their developers' will have full access to all upgrades of the OLIVE SDK, application content software, user documentation, and the OLIVE Product Knowledge Base. The annual maintenance service also provides ongoing access to on-line OLIVE technical support expertise and the Self-Support Portal. Developer Maintenance Service is priced on a per-installed-machine basis with graduated discounting.
90-Day Trial Developer Server Pack Term License (OLVDEV-90D) – Designed as the entry level developer program for organizations interested in exploring the possibilities and benefits of virtual world applications, and/or evaluating and tailoring the numerous, out-of-the-box applications available within OLIVE for potential deployment. Organizations can evaluate proof-of-concept application prototyping; ideas for start-up businesses; higher education research groups; or the benefits that OLIVE can provide organizations. This affordable program is designed to provide access to the OLIVE Windows SDK with the necessary support assistance to enable an in-depth evaluation of OLIVE's extensive virtual world applications.
Optional Functionality Modules
SAIC offers optional OLIVE Functionality Module products that can enhance telephony; the photorealism and physiology of like-like human avatars, and interact with legacy systems. These products can be purchased as a one-time perpetual license. Upon purchase, the customer is granted access to the module's product upgrades and support services through the purchase of any OLIVE Perpetual License Annual Maintenance Service Offering. OLIVE comes with a Self-Guided In-World Orientation complete with a start-up area that provides automated instruction for new users to the in-world environment. Users learn how to move around in-world; use their avatar inventories; change look-sets; customize their avatars; execute simple gestures; teleport to other locations; and use other basic features. Most first-time OLIVE users become comfortable with basic operation of the avatar in the virtual world after a few minutes in the orientation space. We also provide a one-page Quick Guide to keyboard operations and short-cuts to help users get quickly up to speed.
Getting Started with OLIVE — Included with any OLIVE license or User Hosting Service Purchase
Getting Started with OLIVE is the recommended first training class. It is included in the purchase price of any OLIVE License or User Hosting Service. Students learn the basic OLIVE functionality and receive an overview of its features and capabilities. The target audience, course objectives, and overview are summarized below.

Based on our experience, we have created a series of classes specifically for developers who will customize and use the virtual environment. Software Development Toolkit
SAIC's OLIVE provides the benefits of leading distance collaboration and training functionality along with a fully-integrated simulation platform through a software development toolkit (SDK) that enables extension and customization to meet your specific requirements. All key components for standing up a private virtual world are provided out-of-the-box, including hundreds of customizable avatars with associated animations and fully-integrated voice over Internet Protocol-based spatial audio.
Private virtual worlds out-of-the-box
OLIVE is an open, distributed, client-server platform for building your organization's private, realistic virtual worlds. The architecture scales from single-user applications up to hundreds of concurrent users. The SDK provides an API, 3-D content, and third-party system integrations and tools to create and edit 3-D content and scenarios. An at-a-glance view of SDK tools and capabilities is summarized in the circle diagram at the bottom of this page.

- Non-player Character Support: OLIVE provides the ability to integrate with industry-leading, third-party, artificial intelligence packages through an application programmer's interface to support non-player characters (NPCs) or other real-time data feeds.
- Custom Content: Import your own 3-D objects from Autodesk® 3ds Max® or static models via COLLAborative Design Activity (COLLADA) from other 3-D modeling tools.
- Custom Terrain: OLIVE's paged terrain format supports large-area and multi-resolution terrain data in a World Geodetic System (WGS-84)-compliant, geospatially referenced format.
- Scene and Scenario Editors: Mix and match terrain scenes, objects and loadable "actives" to create reusable, realistic or imagined settings. Configure scenarios with role-based positions and preset clothing for repeatable training exercises or practice sessions.
- Physiology Model: Enhance realistic, medical team training simulations with this plug-in model that calculates the conditions, behaviors and responses of patient avatars.
