Locus Track - Overview

The GeoRover Locus Track extension is optimized for importing, creating, editing, and exporting data through the powerful ArcGIS® system, all from a single toolbar. These tools will save valuable time and reduce required training. Using unique and flexible import tools, editing interfaces, and export wizards, work with data from many sources (text files, spreadsheets, databases) and in many different coordinate formats. Using the Locus Track tools, generate ArcGIS data products or ArcGIS-derived products in seconds. Import Excel® spreadsheets (with coordinates) into geodatabase feature classes with a few mouse clicks or generate entire PowerPoint® presentations and web pages from ArcGIS layers within seconds. These examples and much more can be accomplished with the Locus Track extension.

The GeoRover Locus Track extension provides an enhanced interface to the editing process within ArcMap™. Point-and-click and coordinate-based tools provide quick and powerful feature creation and editing within shapefiles and geodatabases, including ArcSDE®. Edit multiple workspaces at any given time, performing feature creation and single-click attribute editing directly on the map. All tools incorporate flexible coordinate parsing and special coordinate fields can be added to any point layer and updated in real-time as features are added or edited. (See larger image).

  • Create complete PowerPoint presentations for all (or selected) features from your GIS data. All slide elements (main content, title, text bullets, and insets) are automatically generated and user customizable

The Locus Track extension Export Wizard can export ArcMap layers into many useful data sharing formats. Create interactive Web pages complete with custom pop-up labels, hyperlinks to data, and data tables. Export any layer into an Excel spreadsheet, complete with coordinates for every feature. Use the slide show export to create an entire PowerPoint presentation from all or selected features of a layer. A slide can be created for each feature, containing linked data, overview maps, or both. Additionally, slide titles and text bullets are automatically generated and can be customized based on information within the attribute table. Create entire presentations with just a few clicks of the mouse. (See larger image).

  • Export ArcMap display and layers into interactive HTML file(s) with hyperlinks and user-defined pop-up labels
  • GeoRover tools are compatible with geodatabases (personal and enterprise [ArcSDE])
  • Interactive (point-and-click) and coordinate-based tools for creating and editing features from shapefiles and geodatabase feature classes (personal and enterprise).
  • One-step editing of point, line, and area (polygon) features and their attributes
  • Add linked data (video, images, audio, documents, slides, spreadsheets, databases, URLs, etc.) to any feature
  • Access any linked data with a simple point and click
  • Graphically depicts which shapes have linked data, for quick reference
  • Wizard-driven import of points, lines, or areas from any delimited text (.csv, .txt, .tab, etc.), Excel spreadsheet, database (Access™, Oracle®, SQL Server®, etc.) or typed/pasted text with coordinates. The end result is the creation of a layer or data added to an existing layer (geodatabase or shapefile)

  • Add UTC date-time created and date-time modified for any point, line, or area. Modified time is automatically updated whenever the feature is edited
  • All coordinate-based tools accept DD, DM, DMS, UTM, MGRS and XY coordinates
  • Compatible with any ArcGIS datum/coordinate system
  • Edit simple ArcSDE feature classes from ArcView using GeoRover tools
  • One-click refresh of ArcSDE versions from ArcView

Unique Editing Approach for editing GIS data - just check the box next to the layer name and edit from there forward. Multiple workspaces can be edited at any given time.

  • Add coordinate attributes (Lat/Lon, DD, DM, DMS, UTM, MGRS or XY) to any point layer for one-step coordinate conversion
  • Coordinate attributes are verified and updated automatically each time point is moved or edited

One or more coordinate attributes (Lat/Lon, DD, DM, DMS, UTM, MGRS or XY) can be added to any point layer (shapefile or feature class) and will update thousands of records in seconds. When any of the points are moved using the Locus Track tools, all coordinates are immediately updated. (See larger image).
