Overview

SCOPTIMA® Supply Chain Software is a secure, Web-enabled inventory system planner. It provides demand forecasting to support efficient management and replenishment of large inventories of spare parts for aircraft and other platforms in government depots and logistics centers.

Applications

SCOPTIMA Supply Chain Software performs spares management for military systems. It is designed for use by all government agencies, branches of military service, or government contractors.

The Problem
SCOPTIMA Supply Chain Software was developed in response to a need of the U.S. Air Force and Navy. These customers wanted improved access to historical demand data to guide the replenishment of spare parts for their aircraft undergoing depot maintenance. They wanted greater visibility into when parts ordered were consumed, and needed to know the part count in inventory before parts actually ran out (a "stock-out"). In addition, they wanted the ability to forecast future requirements for spares parts other than the officially "authorized quantity" (AQ), which did not reflect actual demand. Spare parts are critical to maintaining high availability of weapons systems used by the Defense Department to combat terrorism and support the nation's homeland security mission. As a result, mechanics tended to over-order parts to avoid stock-outs, resulting in increased costs.

The SCOPTIMA Supply Chain Software Solution
Once the SCOPTIMA Supply Chain Software solution was implemented, our customers were able to realize an estimated 16% to 20% reduction in inventory investment while significantly improving the availability of spares. This facilitated:

  • more efficient ordering of parts based on a more accurate overall picture of spares inventories;
  • reduced wait time for spare parts;
  • reduced spare parts prices through commercial sourcing.

Features

SCOPTIMA Supply Chain Software consists of an application suite with modules designed to accomplish inventory management, order management and requirements analysis. In conjunction with associated databases, the SCOPTIMA Supply Chain Software application suite provides complete parts management functionality at the bin level as well as archiving and document control for all receiving documents.
