Supply Operations Control System (SOCS)

Overview

The Supply Operations Control System (SOCS) is a PC-based inventory management system. SOCS provides asset visibility, inventory control and supply support.

Applications

SOCS was designed for use by all government agencies, branches of military service, or contractors performing supply support or doing business with federal activities under Military Standard Requisitioning and Issue Procedures (MILSTRIP) formats.

SOCS can be used for organizations requiring:

  • Mobile Supply Operations
  • Aggregation (Kits, Supply Points, etc.)
  • Dispersed or Deployed Operations
  • Classified or Unique Item Management
  • Contractor Logistics Systems
  • Air Force COMBS Operations
  • Wholesale or Retail Environment
  • Total Inventory Management System

Features

SOCS is available in a stand-alone (single user) or client server (multi-user) configuration. SOCS provides MILSTRIP requisitioning, shipments, receipts, turn-ins, issues, inventory and storage functions. SOCS also provides serialized control asset management, produces bar-coded documents, classified hand receipts, daily transaction reports, stock and part number interrogations, rejects and management notices, and userid/password control to application modules. The versatile Oracle Relational Database Management serves as the database engine.

SOCS surrounds and integrates its MILSTRIP processes with a suite of user defined screens displaying data (input/output) transactions and management reports that conforms to the operational requirements of the user. SOCS is an "off-the-shelf" application, and may be customized to integrate any unique mission or user requirements.

Benefits

SOCS contains core MILSTRIP compliant processes, which allow users to interface seamlessly with Department of Defense and other federal sources of supply. (MILSTRIP rules for requisitioning are applicable to all users.) Additionally, SOCS does not contain any pre-set Service or Agency policy, and instead allows users to establish their own policy and operational ground rules.

SOCS is based on proven SAIC logistics mainframe/mini software that has been in continuous operational use since 1986. These processes and software were downsized, migrated to a PC-based architecture, and reutilized. The system was then re-engineered and modernized for user friendliness under a Windows format.
