Integrated Container Information System (ICIS)

Overview

ICIS offers a new, integrated-system solution to the shipping industry's challenge of enhancing container security without impeding traffic. When equipped with SAIC's high-speed radiographic imaging, radiation scanning and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) capabilities, ICIS can scan high volumes of containers in the normal flow of traffic at the gates or on the quay. Just as important, ICIS can integrate data from these and many other sources, including terminal security, automation and management systems, for use in security and productivity applications.

Backed by this expertise, ICIS brings multiple systems together under a single point of control to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of terminal processes. ICIS can integrate the terminal's existing systems, and can be implemented with minimal impact on terminal operations.

Components

ICIS Server
The ICIS Server is the heart of the ICIS system. With its open-architecture design, the ICIS Server collects data from terminal security, automation and management systems; integrates the data in the ICIS database; and allows secure access anywhere in the world.

ICIS Viewer
The ICIS Viewer presents integrated data, including container images, OCR results and other information, in displays tailored for specific applications. (The sample security-analyst display shown here combines a VACIS gamma ray image of a container with the RPM radiation profile.)

Scanning systems
Backed by SAIC's systems integration expertise, ICIS can collect data from cargo-scanning systems throughout the terminal, including legacy and third-party systems. SAIC offers these high-speed scanning capabilities:

• Gamma ray imaging: The VACIS® gamma ray imaging system provides radiographic images of container contents.
• Radiation scanning: The EXPLORANIUM™ Radiation Portal Monitor (RPM) provides a graphic profile of radioactivity levels inside the container.
• OCR: OCR portal system technology automatically identifies containers to enable ICIS to integrate data for each container.

These scanning systems are available in configurations for use at terminal gates, quays, railyards and other locations.
